ISO 9001 Readiness
Pass the audit as a by-product of running the business well
ISO 9001 Readiness prepares UK manufacturers, installers and distributors for certification with a quality management system built around how the business actually works, not a binder for the shelf. Curavest prepares you for the audit and supports you through it; the certificate itself is issued by an independent certification body.
Best when: You need ISO 9001 certification, or your current system only serves the auditor.
What you get
- A quality management system built around how your business actually works.
- Processes, records and responsibilities your team will use, not a binder for the shelf.
- Readiness for your certification audit, with support from an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
Sounds like your business?
- You need ISO 9001 certification. A customer or tender requires it.
- You have a certificate, but the system exists mainly for the auditor.
- Procedures are out of date, contradicted in practice, or unknown to the people doing the work.
- You hold a 2015 certificate and need to move to the 2026 edition by September 2029.
- Internal audits are tick-box exercises that find nothing, which is usually a sign they are looking in the wrong places.
What it needs from you
- Someone inside the business to be the quality owner, not necessarily full time, but named.
- Willingness to simplify existing procedures rather than add to them.
- Access to the people doing the work, so the system reflects reality.
- A certificate body engaged early enough to plan the audit dates.
How it works
-
Diagnose
Map how work really flows, and where the current system helps or gets in the way.
-
Engineer
Build or simplify the system so it controls the risks that cost you money.
-
Prove
Run it, check it with internal audits, and fix what doesn't work before the auditor arrives.
What each stage involves
- Diagnose
- We start by mapping how work actually flows, which is rarely how the current procedures describe it. The gaps matter: wherever the real process and the documented one differ, there is either a risk nobody is controlling or paperwork nobody needs. Both get addressed, and the second is often where the savings are. A system built for a previous auditor tends to carry procedures that outlived their purpose.
- Engineer
- Then the system is built or simplified so it controls what actually costs you money. Documentation is written for the people who have to use it, at a level proportionate to a business of your size, and tested by having someone follow it. If a procedure cannot be followed on a busy Tuesday, it is the wrong procedure, not a discipline problem.
- Prove
- The final stage is running the system properly before anyone external sees it: internal audits that look for problems, management review that reaches decisions, and corrections made while they are still cheap. Certification bodies are looking for a working system, not a perfect one. A business that can show it found its own issues and fixed them is in a stronger position than one presenting a flawless binder.

What this service is not
- We do not issue certificates. They come from an independent certification body. See the note on this page.
- Not a documentation-writing service that leaves you with a binder and no habits.
- Not a guarantee of certification. We prepare you; the certification body decides.

Questions we get asked
Do you issue ISO 9001 certificates?
No. We prepare you for certification, with support from an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor. The certificate itself is issued by an independent certification body.
We already have ISO 9001. Can you help?
Yes. If the system exists mainly for the auditor, we simplify it so it controls the risks that cost you money, and make it something your team actually uses.
What about ISO 9001:2026?
The revision was published on 16 September 2026, and certificates to the 2015 edition remain valid until 30 September 2029. Transition is a gap analysis and targeted amendments, not a rebuild. We have written up what actually changed, and the claims to ignore, separately.
